NEXT STEPS
LISTENING TO YOUR STORY
Whether you contact me directly or go through your funeral director, our interaction will start with me contacting you to arrange a meeting. This meeting normally takes place at your home, but you may wish to meet me elsewhere – a coffee shop, the funeral directors’ offices or any other location that’s convenient for you. If you’d like to have the meeting remotely, we can do so by telephone or a collaboration platform like Zoom or Teams. It’s up to you.
When we meet, please ensure that anyone wishing to contribute to the service also joins us. This might be a close family member or a friend. If they’re not available in person, please either write down their memories of your loved one in advance of our meeting or ask them to email me directly with their recollections.
It really helps with the preparation of a thoughtful service if contributors have thought about what they want to contribute before they meet or contact me.
During our meeting, I’ll get a clear understanding of the true identity of your loved one. This is likely to include their childhood years, family life and occupation, their interests, hobbies and pastimes and their favourite sport, music or food. We’ll also discuss some of the practicalities of the service. including any music, poetry, prose or prayers that you wish to include in the service and any close family members or friends that wish to participate directly on the day.
THE EULOGY – Creating a moving tribute…
The information I’ll have gathered from you about your loved one will be carefully woven into my eulogy. Within a couple of days of meeting you, I’ll send you a draft of the eulogy by email and invite you to comment on it. It’s important to check your junk mail folder just in case the message ends up there. Once we’ve agreed any changes to the eulogy, I’ll send you a final draft.
MEMORIALS AND ASHES SCATTERINGS – Here for you throughout…
If you’ve chosen a cremation, you may wish to hold a memorial service at a later date when you can scatter your loved one’s ashes at a special place or inter them in a family plot. Should you wish to have a short ceremony to accompany this, please contact me directly and I can help you.
